3D technology setting the stage for faster, more efficient theatre costumes
www.abcactionnews.com/news: Costume-making for theater hasn’t changed much since electric sewing machines were invented more than 100 years ago. It’s a time-consuming and expensive process, but using existing technology for a new purpose could bring a whole new dimension to costume design.

This is very exciting and can be industry changing technology as it makes work easier and faster in different productions. It also raises the question of if there will be a section in between 3D printed costumes on stage and hand or machine made costumes that are being presented on stage. The difference, sometimes might be small but at other moments could be impactful as the material that the 3d printing machine use. In addition, the workers who are used and know how to make clothing with fabric with hand or machine might also have a chance in losing their job in condition or chance to the industry switching to 3d printing or projection of the imagine onto the fabric and setting in models that are being created for a certain type of costume would also require them to learn new technology and engage themselves in an area that they are not familiar with.
Although this is a cool concept, I think that there is something special about having hand-sewn handmade costumes end up on stage. Especially from someone who has been on stage so many times, and has also had experience behind the stage, I always enjoy getting to know the person who is behind the costumes. I think it's especially cool when I get to know and understand why they make the costume choices that they do, but the way the costumes are made are also just a really cool process in general. People who devote their lives to costuming Are often very talented and passionate about what they do, and to take that away from them with 3D technologies would be very heartbreaking to see. Sewing and creating clothes is also just something that I think that people should know how to do in general, even if that's just learning how to sew a button on a jacket or have a pair of pants.
I am all for this technological advancement in costume construction and this process is very long and tedious, and thus the additional assistance from technology will aid in speeding up the process of building pieces and provide precision when creating garments and other specialty pieces. I enjoy how this article begins by stating how much time and love theater makers put into their craft. So much that we often work overtime in order to accomplish our vision. Thus, through developing more efficient ways to complete our jobs through technology we can create even grander pieces through more time and lessen the toxicity of theater work through allocating more time in our lives to our personal well-being. Through The use of process such as 3D printing and systems such as CLO3D we will witness a complete change in how the production of costumes and other elements of technical design will be created in the future.
