Alanis Morissette Says She Exited Rock Hall Filming Due to Disrespect

Variety: Alanis Morissette has come forward to explain that encountering sexism was what caused her to drop out of a performance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony Saturday night, where she was to have performed a duet with Olivia Rodrigo of the classic hit “You’re So Vain” as part of a tribute to inductee Carly Simon.

It is very sad that Alanis Morissette felt so disrespected that she needed to drop out of this induction ceremony performance at the last minute. Morissette is known for being a strong and powerful feminist voice in the music industry and I could somewhat understand why someone who is much more established as she is would be more willing to walk away from something like this than someone who is just starting their career like Olivia Rodrigo might be. The Instagram statement from Morissette seems to say about as much and that she does not hold any ill feelings about it. It is interesting that so many sources dispute what happened behind the scenes and obviously there are some unreliable sources somewhere and perhaps if people were behaving incorrectly or inappropriately toward her they may not want to admit it and perhaps may blame another issue rather than themselves like when someone hits you with their car and blames you for getting in their way.
