Most people who've read that brick of a book know that it's not an easy read. Like, it is a very trauma heavy book during the AIDS epidemic and I can't imagine that much real life abuse being staged in a theater. But I also imagine it could be artfully performed and I'm really excited that Ivo van Hove is part of this production, because he did that really cool version of West Side Story. I don't know I also think the idea of adapting it into a 4 hour long play is a bit of a stretch, but he's such a big name attached to this and the book already has a cult following so I'm sure it'll do relatively well. I'd just hope people can authentically tell the story while proceeding with caution working with sensitive topics. I'd also be really interested in seeing what they left in and took out of the story.
