Tom Hardy Explains Complex Origin Of His Bane Voice
brobible.com: Given that Tom Hardy has spent much of the last six years playing Venom — his only non-Venom role between 2018 and 2024 was 2020’s Capone — it’s slightly fallen under the radar that the Academy Award-nominee is one of the best actors alive (if you saw The Bikeriders this summer, hopefully, that served as a reminder).

I think this article is such a great reminder as to how talented Tom Hardy is as an actor. His approach to Bane’s voice in The Dark Knight shows how much thought he has and continues to put into his roles. I really liked how he explains that instead of doing a typical villain voice, he was inspired by a Romani bare-knuckle fighter, which is so odd but it works perfectly and just shows the overall dedication he has to everything he gets the chance to be in. The comparison between how he developed Bane’s voice versus Venom’s is so interesting and funny too. The fact that Venom’s voice came from him imitating his dog and Busta Rhymes adds another layer to the entire creative process. It’s exciting to think that, with The Last Dance wrapping up, Hardy potentially will return to other challenging roles that highlight his versatility. I’m really looking forward to seeing what he can bring to future films!
Tom Hardy is definitely one of my favorite actors. He is so talented and while this article goes into his bane voice specifically, I don't think I've ever seen him use the same voice twice in his movies. I think that a character's voice is an incredibly important part of Tom Hardy's method and that is a really smart move. Bane's voice in The Dark Knight Rises is very iconic and communicates exactly what I think Tom Hardy wanted it to. It is that mashup of a few different accents but the way he speaks communicates confidence from this character and a strong ego. I'm actually really surprised that Tom Hardy doesn't take more voice acting roles, as I feel he would really excel in that.
