I think this article does a really good job of showing how Broadway Cares uses the theater community’s overall generosity to make a major difference. It’s so cool to see that they gave $300,000 in grants. I love how this article highlights specific organizations that received said grants, like Feeding Tampa Bay (etc.). It's so beneficial for these communities that are in desperate need, and in the way that theater brings everyone together, the community is helping disaster-stricken communities. It makes the impact feel more personal, knowing exactly where the money is going. It’s also impressive that even though Loving Food Resources lost their food bank, the fact that Broadway Cares steps up not just for the theater world but for communities in need during disasters makes me appreciate their work even more. It’s nice to see the theater community coming together to support people outside of just performances. I hope this type of giving back continues if in the future, god forbid, anything else disastrous happens.
