A-1 To The Rescue: Jumping Into The Fray To Save The Technical Day For An Online Conference
ProSoundWeb: “How soon can you be there?” Words that I’m sure none of us want to hear on the phone because it means we’re walking into a situation that we’d rather avoid. “Not sure,” I replied. I didn’t want to commit until I knew what I was getting into. “What’s up?”

I loved reading this blog post about a scenario for a live sound engineer in Orlando. He talks about the process from getting the call that he was needed through the process to strike. Throughout the post he comments on his concerns, thoughts, and process of setting up the system for the corporate event. I really like the slice of life aspect of this post and how it shows what a good sound engineer can do for a show, even if it goes unnoticed. At the end he talks about the firsts he’s had for being someone who “saved their event” which I found really special and inspiring. Reading this article furthered my interest in audio and production technology because through all I thought was “I want to do that too” and be able to effortlessly set up a system that others were struggling with. Having a deep knowledge of the tech is something that I find hard to grasp at first but once it gets into my head I love learning about what a sound board can do and how all the different elements talk to each other. I am super excited to learn more about gear, audio, and sound design in the years to come because reading something like this shows me how excited I am to be working in the tech side of sound and lighting.
