Taylor Swift's New Eras Tour Outfits: Reputation, Fearless & More

wwd.com/pop-culture: Taylor Swift continued her 2024 Eras tour on Friday, performing at the Miami Gardens stadium in Florida. The “Shake It Off” singer has embraced custom outfits in collaboration with prolific designers, with looks from designers like Roberto Cavalli to Versace. Keeping things fresh after going on hiatus since August in London, Swift debuted an array of new looks for the continuation of her North American tour.

I really like the black and gold snake suit. It reminds me of the snake line and form in the lobby. I feel like there are a LOT of rhinestones in her looks. The designs themselves feel a little flat though. I think there are a lot of things they could've done to make the dresses much more interesting. Maybe some more fringe or extra appliques. Especially on that red and blue dress. She was looking a little like one of those freedom pops. I don't think it read very well. I wonder if she didn't have much effort put into her costumes on purpose because she's literally Taylor Swift and people will love her regardless of what she's wearing. I wonder what kind of discussion goes into that. Does Taylor have the final say in what she's wearing or is there some sort of PR person that is calling all the shots? That would be strange but it would make sense.

Costume design for tours and live entertainment is a HUGE part of the industry that I haven’t had many opportunities to learn about. It gives job opportunities to stylists, designers, seamstresses, dressers, stitchers, and more. Although the article showcases three of Taylor Swift’s new Eras Tour costumes, it doesn’t directly mention the fact that her backup dancers are also wearing new costumes as well—each one tailored slightly differently but made to connect to Taylor’s costume through aesthetic and color. When Taylor wears a black bodysuit with sequined snake embroidery, her backup dancers wear black leotards with red snakeskin detailing. The shapes and motifs are clearly connected, but without it being force-fed or obvious. Roberto Cavalli does a great job of making these subtle connections and I think his style fits the mood of the Eras Tour really well. It’s cool to see how he captures the feeling/aesthetic of each album without making them feel dated.

Taylor Swift’s latest wardrobe reveals for the Eras Tour showcase her dedication to evolving aesthetics that reflect each album era's personality. Her choice to partner with designers like Roberto Cavalli highlights her commitment to creating not just concert outfits, but iconic fashion moments that capture the essence of her musical journey.Swift's ombre Cavalli gown for her acoustic set in Miami, with its gradient from magenta to midnight blue and crystal embellishments, seems almost like a visual metaphor for her transition between eras, blending past and present influences. Her continuation of the snake motif in the asymmetrical “Reputation” bodysuit brings a fresh edge, while the intricate snake detailing nods to her past, creating continuity for fans who have followed her transformation since that era. With each outfit, Swift effectively uses fashion as a storytelling tool, inviting fans to relive the moods of her past albums while embracing her ongoing transformation.

It is unbelievable to me that this woman is still on tour. I feel like she’s been doing Eras for years now… that being said, although I wouldn’t consider myself a Swiftie or superfan by any means, I am consistently impressed by her dedication and business strategy. She has obtained the ability to captivate audiences, young and old for years now, and has them literally in the palm of her hand (I think they changed the price of eggs once?) Anyway, her new costumes. This is just one of the many ways that Swift changes things up for her audience and keeps them on their toes. True superfans seemed to flip out over the minor change of a costume piece, reaching for the related significance or symbolism for her next release. THAT is business! She’s a genius.

I would not consider myself to be anywhere in the realm of being a Taylor Swift fan. But it is crazy to me that something as small as a few costume changes is considered such big news in this world. She has created such a large reputation for herself, building up a giant business and enormous fan base. People analyze every single small detail about each of her concerts. It's crazy how much attention is focused on her, and it's surprising to me that people haven't gotten tired of it yet. She has been on tour for so long, I feel like everyone who would want to see her has surely had the chance already, yet she has no problem continuing to sell out venues. It is impressive, no other artist seems to get that amount of attention, especially over an extended period of time.

It's crazy to think about how long the Eras tour has been going on. It’ll have been about a year and a half by the time it finally wraps up. I heard from all my Swiftie friends that they were shocked to see her with a different Reputations bodysuit from the red and black one. While this isn't necessarily a theatrical performance, her costume choices still feel very intentional. Looking back on previous announcements such as the release of her latest album The Tortured Poets Department, she definitely seems to make very intentional choices in which outfits she wears to potentially hint at whatever the next announcement is going to be, and a new Reputations bodysuit seems to be the next major hint that she might re release that album. This specific outfit is especially important considering the fact that her original red and black bodysuit was one of the very few costumes if not the only costume that she has worn every single performance of the Eras tour. I do hope Taylor Swift continues to give little hints and sneak peaks through her costume choices, it’s quite entertaining.

If you know anything about me, you will know that I am OBSESSED with Taylor Swift. I live for these outfits and songs on the Eras Tour. While I had already seen countless grainy livestreams and the actual movie, I was fortunate enough to see the Eras Tour in person this summer. And it was a BEAST. Of course, Taylor was amazing, but more so I was wowed with the production design and quality. There were so many small and intricate parts– seen in the lights, the sound, the video projections, and OF COURSE the costumes. Those are what wow people the most. She works with a variety of designers, which I love to see as she isn’t sticking to one design style and every outfit is so unique. I often find myself wondering why she has had so many outfits that she has worn a few times and never worn again– but then I think about it and it must be because of the wear and tear they go through as she performs three hours and fifteen (and sometimes more!) minute shows. The designers are tasked with making beautiful, runway worthy clothing– but they also have to balance that against the stress that these costumes will be under. I can’t wait to see the rest of her outfits (because we KNOW there will be more) before the tour ends! (and hopefully a rep tv or debut tv drop)

Taylor swift is one of the most amazing artists of our time and i think the production quality that is in her shows really reflect that fact. I've never seen a performer have as big of a stage presence as Taylor and I think that's partially due to the designers in her shows. Her eras tour has really taught me a lot about design in live entertainment, I can't imagine how much work has been put in for her tours. Every time I hear or see something about it, it's always been something praise worthy. This has been the case in each location they've been to and I think its impressive how consistent they've been(the quality hasn't seemed to have dropped). Costume designs in live entertainment have always been important however for taylor specifically i think it holds a big role in the aesthetic of her tour. People remember her music as well as the outfits she wears and people continue to think and talk about them even after the show is over, i think that says a lot about how much her designers understand the vibe of her music/style, they've really done a big job getting the essence of taylor and her music

With Taylor Swift's Eras tour starting my freshman year at CMU News Quiz has given me a unique opportunity to follow this tour through a more career oriented lense. This trend of celebrities such as Taylor Swift and Sabrina carpenter mixing up the outfits they wear nigh tonight's a wonderful way to feature more of a designers work especially with social media making tours more visible and accessible to people who can not see then in person. I am interested in the details of how much time is given to prepare for these new outfits. When are the outfits for. that night decided and how are they decided. I know with Taylor Swift outfits are changed to signify something like an album release or a new leg of a tour but sometimes outfits change for apparently no reason. I am also curious to know the details of how these outfit changes affect other departments. I know at least for Taylor some VMD is affected by what she is wearing but, I do not know the extent of how her outfits affect the rest of the production.
