Epic Universe construction: Frankenstein Manor in Dark Universe

attractionsmagazine.com: bioreconstruct captured another round of photos of Universal Epic Universe construction in late October 2024. The new Epic Universe theme park will open May 22, 2025 in Orlando, Fla. (New to Epic Universe? Check out our beginner’s guide.) Today we’re taking a look at the progress of the unashamedly epic Frankenstein Manor in Dark Universe.

Okay so this is actually super cool and fun and exciting. I will say of the various offerings of this so-called Epic Universe I am most looking forward to the How to Train Your Dragon section. I have always thought that How to Train Your Dragon is so theme park. I’m honestly surprised no one has capitalized on this before now. Anyway, it will be interesting to see how a ride that shares such similar concepts (as far as purpose/ design of the actual ride) to one like Forbidden Journey, as mentioned in the article, could take shape now with so much having changed and technology advancing. While the two may not be directly analogous for a number of reasons, I wonder what new kinds of technology will surface or be implemented to make these rides exciting. I will be curious to check it out when the time comes, which works out great since I’m from Orlando.

This is an incredibly neat structure! Everything I’m seeing coming out of Epic Universe is really cool and this is no different. These are the first photos I’ve seen from the Dark Universe part of the park and it seems like a really interesting concept. The Monsters Unleashed ride has a very cool concept, and it sounds like a really thrilling ride. I really like the detail on the mansion itself to be able to work in both daytime and nighttime for a theme which obviously lends itself to the night. I can’t wait to see photos of this with the actual lighting and projection effects in order to see the final effect, I’m sure it will be cool if Super Mario World is anything to go by. I really want to visit Epic Universe at some point, all of the different parks seem like they’re going to be very immersive, and Dark Universe certainly underscores that idea.

I hope Epic Universe is as cool as all the sneak peaks like this are in the photos and descriptions. I think Disney needs a new match and the Epic Universe sounds like it could be in the running. The Dark Universe and castle from the photo looks like the detail and clean finish on the building are going to lend this new theme park to being on Disney’s level of immersion and entertainment without being chained to only Disney IP. I think the land will cater to a huge number of people because of the range of themes from the classic universal studios monsters, Harry Potter, how to train your dragon, and of course the only one that matter Nintendo World 🥹. I think it’s also funny that this “dark manor” looks like a castle at least from the photos and will be the anti princess castles found in the Disney parks.
