I love the idea of taking such a high-profile celebrity and getting to look at how their brain works, without all of the glitz and glam. I love the vulnerability presented in Depp’s exhibit. This view into Depp’s life, especially considering his defamation case against Amber Heard, was uniquely personal. It was really interesting reading that the author found their viewing of the exhibit to feel “almost wrong.” That notion that this personal view was not meant for public eyes is very interesting to me. The tension between that uncomfortable feeling and the public intrigue surrounding it is the engine of this piece. It also reflects the new direction that Johnny Depp is showing his artistic personability in the aftermath of the Amber Heard controversy. It’s amazing to see him take a sensitive, open approach to his art.
