grandMA3 in control for Lenny Kravitz’s Blue Electric Light Tour
LightSoundJournal.com: Having successfully completed its European run of shows this summer, Lenny Kravitz’s Blue Electric Light Tour is preparing for its Americas leg, which will see the rock legend perform 14 shows during the final quarter of 2024. In this well-earned breathing space, MA spoke to lighting designer Bryan Barancik and programmer Felix Peralta about their use of the grandMA3 for these shows.

This guy's career seems extremely fun and challenging. I wonder if I will end up in a similar job. It stuck out to me that he said "theater design wasn't as appealing as music," because I think both are very fun, though nothing can compare to the logistical insanity and high stakes of giant professional music tours. I would love to experience touring for a few years of my life then settle down somewhere. However, as talked about in this article, if you want to program and design these big shows, you've got learn grandMA, which I've never even touched. I have only worked with ETC. I wonder what the main differences are between them. Perhaps grandMA has more shortcuts and streamlined interfaces to make programming a large rig of movers more easy. With ETC, it's assumed that you might not have any movers at all, but on big tours, you have to have all movers if you want to increase the efficiency of the tour. As I know from working on Gloria, a 'proper' focus can take a long time! I never did a 'proper' focus at my high school as the lighting team was usually me, a friend, and the English teacher who happened to know a lot about theater and lighting.
