ProSoundWeb: I work primarily as an A-1 but was recently tasked as an A-2 for the main stage for the 30th anniversary of the “largest beauty show in America,” which took place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. There were lots of colorful characters with personalities to match. My responsibilities included:
• Program and deploy a Clear-Com Freespeak II wireless intercom system integrated with a hard-wired system and Clear-Com hard-wired beltpacks.

I found this article to be very interesting! I love hearing about people’s processes, especially when it comes to solving problems rather quickly. Having taken music technology in high school, a class where you learn the basic principles of a PA system and how to record studio tracks, I realized that there is so much more to sound design than just the three/four main components. There’s so much more you have to think about, especially with live events. It was really helpful to hear about their prep time too. I think it’s amazing that these problems that they encountered are shared to the public.
