Breaking the Binary Announces Regional Theatre Partnership Program
AMERICAN THEATRE: Breaking the Binary Theatre has announced a new program called BTB Across America, in which they will partner with regional theatre companies to support local transgender, nonbinary, and Two-Spirit+ (TNB2S+) artists in those communities. Sponsored by Jody Falco and Jeffrey Steinman, the partnerships will launch at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in May and Steppenwolf Theatre in July, where the companies will produce one-week workshops of new plays by TNB2S+ artists based in Washington, D.C., or Chicago, respectively. The program will also offer open positions to other community-based TNB2S+ artists through the partnership.

This is so good. transgender artists are very underappreciated especially in the current day and age. and don't get me wrong there has been lots of progress made with transgender rights and everything like that, however we are all still constantly taking steps back. There is lots of community prejudice against us, and the government and current lawmakers are not doing us any favors to put it lightly. I genuinely think there's so much value in having resources to support trans people, and other minority groups. There is so much power in belonging and feeling safe in a space. I hope that this journey continues to improve and that Breaking the Binary Theater finds success in its new program that is spreading across America. Also I think that their incentive should be spread all across the world, and I hope that more people recognize the value of trans identities.
