I’ve always been a fan of lighting shows where the main purpose of the lighting is to show off what the technology can do. It is really fascinating to see how much all aspects of lighting technology have evolved and developed, and reading about how new lighting technology was incorporated into this show was pretty cool. The part that jumped out to me was reading about the production process the designers of the show went through. With such an expansive show with so many cues and things going on, the fact that the show wasn’t finished in real life until a couple hours before the actual performance makes sense, but is also something that really would have stressed me out. This is definitely the kind of production that shows how valuable things like pre-viz are, since it can give the designers a chance to start visualizing things before it’s possible to see the actual lights doing it.
