How Music Tectonics is Shaping the Future of Music Tech

The Knockturnal: Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the Music Tectonics Conference 2023 in Santa Monica, CA. It was an amazing event that brought together music tech innovators from across the industry spectrum. I learned a lot, met some great people, and had a lot of fun. Here is my experience.

I am very glad that Artificial Intelligence is making Music production more accessible to people and are helping to boost smaller band’s revenue by exposing people to new music they never would have found otherwise. However, I become increasingly nervous when Artificial Intelligence becomes too heavily relied upon, especially in the arts, entertainment, and humanities sector. Honestly, I don’t even really understand what Web3 actually is and how it is different from Artificial Intelligence regular. I will say that VR and AR integration into music for spatial audio purposes are genuinely very interesting. Especially in coordination with lighting. I mean I know Second Life has been around forever but I think this would really change the virtual clubbing game. I did also get considerably nervous when the topic of block chains came up. Maybe this says more about me than the concept, but when people mention block chains, I immediately think of scam crypto coins and the like.
