This article was actually so helpful, I love myself a good deal. As much as Black Friday and Cyber Monday kind of suck, because of the violence and just overall stupidity of capitalism, a good deal is very helpful especially for those with lower incomes. As a student it is incredibly helpful, and necessary to take note of special deals going around, especially on things we may need. I had no idea any of these things were on sale for Amazon and kind of forgot about black friday. I am very excited to start browsing and looking for more things on Amazon today. Now don't get me wrong, I don't love shopping from amazon, because of multiple different reasons. If you are able to support local stores I think that is the optimal option, however like I said as a student for convenience and cost this is probably the smartest way to do it for now.

Most of the deals mentioned here felt like they were things that I either already had or were important for a more niche part of the industry. A suitcase is not important for someone unless they are touring or doing design work all over the country. I found it very interesting that they included a camelback on this list as something to use during a call. While this might make sense if you are just spending a day pushing boxes, it seems to me that the camelback could get in the way because we spend a lot of our time crawling around in small spaces and on our backs. The AirPods are something that I think would be very helpful. They are always great for keys, but you can also throw them in road cases or in tool bags so that you can make sure that you do not lose those things. I have heard stories of people putting air tags in a road case so they could track the truck and figure out how close it was to getting to the theater.

I feel as though this was a very niche and specific article, but at the same time it was helpful. Since we are all design and production majors, I know plenty of my friends could benefit from these gifts. My older brother also does tech theatre. He is an apprentice with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees where he works tech for various theatre companies like the New Jersey Performing Arts Center as well as the Black Box Performing Arts Center in Englewood, New Jersey. Additionally, he has worked on concerts at very prominent venues such as Met Life Stadium. There he got to work at really cool concerts for Billie Ellish and Bad Bunny. This year he was even on the run crew for the Video Music Awards. Since he does so much technical theatre work I know that these would be great gifts to consider for him.

These items were so useful, and many I would not have thought about! I think it's really cool that someone published an article on black friday tips just for stage hands. The ones that stood out to me are the airtags, the camel back water backpack, and the deep tissue gun. When I clicked on the article, the airtags were the cover shot. I thought that was super clever! I would never have thought about it but there are countless of times I have left my keys in the lift or a jacket or water bottle backstage somewhere. I couldn't imagine losing like a wallet or car keys so having an airtag for this I could imagine is extremely useful. I also thought the water backpack was super funny. Do people really do this? I find it super funny to see like a back stage hand doing scene changes with this backpack on them- to the point where I wonder is this really useful and functional? Lastly, the deep tissue gun I could imagine how nice that would be. Even after a four hour scenery or lighting call my back is extremely tensed up so after like a show night or something this would be heavenly.

I love little articles like this. Short, sweet, and to the point, and a bonus of this one is that it is saving us money. I am a sucker when it comes to Black Friday (and all weekend to Cyber Monday) sales, who doesn’t love to save money? There are plenty of discounts on high-quality tool sets, power tools, and equipment that stagehands use. I thought it was interesting that he included a camelback thing. But you can find deals on all sorts of backpacks and gear bags for carrying tools and equipment. I may consider buying multi-tools that can serve various functions, that way I can feel like I’m saving even more. Of course, there are plenty of deals on gadgets like portable chargers and air tags as mentioned in the article. I feel like over the years Black Friday has become a little lackluster, especially as it is been stretched into an entire weekend plus Monday. But at the end of the day we aren’t going to complain or stop shopping so I guess they know what they’re doing.

I love a good gadget. I’m a big fan of gizmos and dodads. Contraptions, even. What’s even better than a cool gadget is buying a cool gadget at a sweet sale price. I have had a very enjoyable Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales weekend. Regarding this particular list, I was expecting different items to be on it. I can understand how all of the items listed in this article might be useful to someone in some sort of stagehand or roadie job, but that’s just because they’re generally useful items that anyone might find helpful. Also, it doesn’t seem like anything on this list was particularly well-researched. Of all of the suitcases I know I could theoretically purchase at a really good price throughout this weekend, I’m just not convinced that the particular suitcase shown is the one that I should be thinking about purchasing at a Black Friday sale price.

While I don’t usually participate in Black Friday, reading this article was pretty insightful into the deals that can be utilized. Starting off strong, I could really use one of these– an air tag, I lose everything on a regular and especially in a professional sense this would be very useful, whether it be tools, keys, or equipment an air tag seems to be a must-have. The next one as well, as someone who is always forgetting to drink water a backpack that stores water would be perfect for me as well. As a speaker- I am one who always carries around music and spreads it wherever I go this would be a perfect deal for me(however I do have a JBL speaker already). And lastly a pack of chargers– I never seem to have a charger when I need one, especially late at night on a work call or run crew call.

I don't think that this list is necessarily bad but I really don't think it is good. All of the items are just the big-name brands. Only advertising the main brands just takes attention away from a lot of the smaller and less known companies that are out there that are making better quality and more durable products. Looking at other companies that are not just the main brands is really important in this industry because there is so much room for innovation and improvement. I also feel like some of the items on this list aren't important to our industry, such as Apple charging cords. I mean we use a lot of cables in our profession and Apple charging cords are not one of the more common ones. Even if I think the list is bad, the discounts offered are actually good and should be used.

Well…I am a little late to finding this article. But I saw it was popular and figured it would be worth checking out. I am going to start with the negative and then move to what I liked. I think Black Friday and Amazon have created this sense that we need all the things at all times because we can order them wherever we want and they get here the next day. I am also someone who is incredibly suspicious of Black Friday deals in general and if people really save all that much money or if they just end up spending more money and buying things that they really did not need. However, I do think there are some useful purchases in this list that I might consider getting even not on Black Friday. The air tags are probably my favorite things on this list. Being able to track whatever I want to a close precise location has always put my mind at ease. I also liked the camelback. I have a small and large one at home that I use on long hiking trips but I never thought about using them while working in tech. I thought that was a really good idea.
