I had no idea that there was such a thing as the Equity in Entertainment Award or even a Women in Entertainment breakfast gala. I love the fact that something like this exists to celebrate women in the industry who are doing good things. I also love the idea of an Equity Award to highlight people in the industry who are working towards equity and equality. This recognizes the fact that equity is a very important thing to be fighting for in the industry right now and people deserve to be awarded for doing so. I completely agree that Kerry Washington deserves to receive the equity in Entertainment Award and the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award. From what I already know of what she has done and after reading this article, Washington truly is an incredible force that deserves to be recognized. She has done so much for the industry and truly has paved the way for more people of color and women to come.

It is delightful to hear about the celebration of women and their achievements. I had no idea that the Women in Entertainment gala existed, but I am very glad it does. Upon looking it up, it does not seem that much of the event is covered beyond these two main awards, the Equity in Entertainment aware and the Sherry Lansing Leadership award, and the red carpet fashion. Still, that an event like this exists, even if it is not fully in public's eye, is refreshing. I do not closely follow any actors beyond what they do on screen, but reading Kerry Washington's list of achievements is nothing short of impressive. I am very glad that she is using her fame for good, as it is always the easier option to not do anything. I look forward to the Power 100 list that The Hollywood Reporter will publish as an opportunity to hear more about what women in the industry are doing behind the scenes.
