I love the idea that theater patrons get to be a part of creating a play or rather critiquing a play while the writers also get an opportunity to get feedback and are provided early access to audience reaction. I think it is sort of a win-win situation for writers and the audience as well as a really interesting new dynamic to see in a theater, like the audience is almost participating in the writing process. I also think it is great how the La Jolla Playhouse has managed to be an ant farm for new and upcoming playwrights in the business. And it is probably new and interesting events like the DNA New Work Series: that allow the La Jolla Playhouse to be a hotbed for exciting new work. That in turn gets their community and audience excited for the new work as well because they were a part of it essentially.
