This article was very encouraging to read. I know that I have a bad habit of listening to/ reading my favorite pieces of theatre over and over again without trying anything new. Awards like these help propel new and innovative creators to the forefront of people’s minds, hyping up any new projects they may have on the way. Especially after the shut down of so much theatre during the pandemic, just being reminded that theatre is still alive and changing and thriving is such a huge comfort to me. I know that as soon as I am finished with homework I am going to write down a list of interesting creators and shows that won these awards so that I can open myself up to new stories after such a long period of only exposing myself to the pieces I was comfortable and familiar with. Articles such as these give me hope for both myself and my peers going forward in this field.
