The essential building blocks for your next video wall project
www.avinteractive.com: As more and more customers are opting to dedicate their available on-site physical space to digital technologies, ambitious video wall projects are gaining momentum.
The latest advancements in multi-display technology have allowed AV professionals and installers to go larger—both in resolution and the number of supported displays—than in years past.

This article really resonated with me… especially the part where the article encouraged users to invest in software. When my high school was donated a video wall from a cruise line, they thought “Great! A free video wall.” They did not account budgeting for a trussing system, let alone a budget for software. This meant that we essentially ran the full stage sized wall as a secondary computer display from a computer running PowerPoint. Naturally, this caused a lot of issues. PowerPoint was simply not stable enough for high quality video files in such an excess. This led us to having create up to 4 different PowerPoint files per show that were even changed out mid-act. Eventually, the school invested in mapping software’s, and the production quality changed drastically. Simply put do not invest resources in video wall displays if you aren’t able to allocate resources to all of the necessary components of having a video system.
What in the world did I just read? I think I understood about 20% of that article. I am only now learning about networking and IP addressing and all that jazz. Now that I am declared as a Production Technology and Management major, I am very interested in learning about exactly that. I really love that CMU has the major offered to school of drama. Yes, I know that I am going off topic but I don’t really know how to talk about what they have said in the article and I want to plug PTM. Not gonna lie PTM is hard, there is a lot I don’t know (but that’s why I’m here right? Gotta start learning about it somewhere) I am also working with the football team and hoping to get a little experience with their large LED screen that is located between the football field and the soccer field. Hopefully, in a year or so from now, I will be much more knowledgeable about these types of technology :)
