The Drama League Launches Reimagination of The Directors Project

www.broadwayworld.com: As the nation's only full-time creative home for directors, The Drama League's new program portfolio is the result of a company-wide evaluation, undertaken during the pandemic and in conversations with over 100 artists, artistic leaders, producers, activists, and community members.

I worked with a cohort of Drama League Directors a couple summers ago and they told me a little bit about the program they were a part of and the Drama League, but these changes they are making to the program seem like really great changes. I am especially excited about the assistant directing opportunities for younger and earlier career directors. Looking at the list of directors they will be partnering these assistants with, it looks like they will be able to learn a lot from these very established directors. Something I wish they included in this article about the new programs is how many people will be selected for each program. They list scholarship funds that will be awarded, but I wish how many people will be getting these awards and will be participating in these programs. But with the number of programs they have and the number of partner theatres they have it seems like this will provide a lot of great opportunities for directors.
