disguise explores the new possibilities for storytelling
www.avinteractive.com/news: xR is the natural step forward from traditional green screen workflows – replacing the green or blue screens with LED panels. It is – essentially – photorealistic images generated by powerful graphics engines, like Unreal Engine, that are projected on to LED surfaces in realtime to immerse actors, presenters and the viewers at home in a whole new world. In film and TV production, this immersive content can be rendered from the camera’s perspective – updating graphics as the camera moves.

I am really curious how the theatre industry will integrate xR in the future. Many Video Media Design artists already use Disguise. So, I think the software and Unreal will remain popular and gain popularity in the industry. Immersive theatre and exhibitions feature more interactive works, and this technology makes sense in their capacity. I am just curious if we will see interactive media integrated in large scale theatrical performances at any point in the near future. I am personally very excited to work in Video Media Design because the industry is constantly evolving and changing. I think it is so cool that VMD artists get to be at the forefront of the theatrical technical revolution. I would love to see a performance in a large scale theatre that gives a larger audience the opportunity to interact with xR as a group. I believe there is a real potential for xR to work within the theatrical industry.
