Hollywood COVID Protocols Extended Through October – Unless IATSE Members Strike
www.thewrap.com: As tension mounts over the contract dispute between IATSE and Hollywood studios, the COVID-19 safety protocols agreed to between the studios and guilds remains in place for now…but would be nullified if the below-the-line workers’ union moves forward with a strike.

This headline makes it sounds like AMTPP is going to take away the COVID protections on the floor if IATSE strikes, but they just mean that if they’re all striking, the COVID protocols can’t apply. I am glad that everyone is agreeing to take the pandemic seriously and they have been keeping everyone safe. One of my friend’s significant other was working on Rust in the accounting department in town and he was telling me that there are basically two equivalent budgets on the production, one for the production and one for COVID. My roommate also worked this summer as a production assistant doing pandemic related tasks and making sure everything was working properly and the rules were being followed. I haven’t seen to much about the pandemic getting out of control on any sets and that I’m sure is significantly a function of masks because they’re so freaking effective.
