As someone from Denver originally, I grew up in and have a special place in my heart for the Denver art scene. It’s a place where the arts are community backed and institutionally supported, and where experimental work thrives. It also is quickly growing as a place that welcomes art created by more diverse peoples. All of this being said, it is no surprise that the newest permanent Meow wolf installation is in Denver. The scale of this project is incredible, with over 70 different installations. It’s also the first Meow Wolf project to include a performance space, something they intend to include in future Meow Wolfs. Meow wolf is a great example of how experimental, installation based art can have great commercial success. I hope that this new installation’s success can match it’s size, and that both Denver’s art scene and the global landscape of immersive art will continue to expand.
