L.A. Stage Alliance Slammed For Misidentifying Asian Actress At Awards

I had to do some searching to see what actually happened since this article was a little bit vague, and it is so much worse than I expected. The way this article made it out made it seem like they simply pronounced her name wrong, which is already astounding to me, since it seems like it would be an easy name to pronounce, but the person reading her name joked, "How do you say her name? Is it Jelly or Jolly?”, which makes it so much worse. On top of that, they completely use the wrong photo for her, which is just flat out disrespectful. This reminds me a lot of cis people using the wrong name or pronouns for someone. I know whenever someone does this, no matter if they say it's an accident or not, there's always something in the back of my mind that tells me that it isn't. How can someone be so rude as to use the wrong pronouns for someone or pronounce their name wrong when it takes such little brain power? Especially if it is at a major event that is likely rehearsed.
