The Kennedy Center Embarrassed Trump, so Now He Needs to Destroy It

www.jezebel.com: As soon as artists and performers began canceling their scheduled Kennedy Center engagements en masse following President Donald Trump’s historically self-aggrandizing move to add his own name to the building, we probably should have figured that the single most likely outcome would be that Trump would immediately begin tracing his fat fingers over a glowing, red self-destruct button for the center, which has served the American public for 55 years since its opening in 1971.

I think this article phrasesTrump's intention perfectly well. He bought this building in hopes of making money and slapping his name on a very successful historical building in business. Instead, the outcome was artists dropping from performing there and refusing to perform under his name and have any association with him. This thing led to him destroying the building and what it's made for, and he isBuilding something in his image that he can claim isRestoring but all in all, he is destroying something that left him embarrassed because people refuse to work or perform under his name It makes perfect sense to me that as soon as performers refused to perform at the center now that his name was attached to it that of course he would want to bulldoze it and reinvent it in his imageBecause in his mindWhoever and whatever does not bend to his rules and what he wants he will destroy and this is a perfect example of the destruction that he causes for the name of money and power.

I’m a vitriolic person with a lot of hate in my heart but this article (while true) has so much mindless slander in it I almost don’t want to read it. However, I agree wholeheartedly. The management of the Kennedy Center who claim that liberal artists are being “too sensitive” and “letting politics get in the way of art” really need to work through their opinions and thought processes on that one. I wonder if Trump will continue to pump money into a center that’s failing because people refuse to contribute to his messaging there. The amount of people who don’t approve… I have yet to hear from someone who heard of Trump putting his name on the center and was actually happy about it. Maybe I should try and find some articles from that perspective. Is Trump doing anything (other than, of course, closing it for two years for renovation) to actually improve the Kennedy Center?

The headline says it all. In keeping up with The Kennedy Center news as a Washington DC area resident, this outcome is certainly shocking and disappointing, but predictable with what we’ve seen with Trump’s handling of The Kennedy Center so far. My biggest question is still, doesn’t he have better things to do? While partaking and contributing to the arts in our modern culture is extremely important, especially as a United States president, we are literally in one of the biggest economic and political crises the United States has ever seen and Trump’s own approval ratings on matters completely not pertaining to The Kennedy Center are at historic lows. It goes to show his narcissistic nature, utter mishandeling of priorities and complete disregard for the arts with the new order to renovate the already grand facility. Perhaps, as the article suggests, this is a distraction from the Epstein files, but even so, it’s crazy to see him care so much for the medium of fine arts which he will never truly be able to appreciate at the very least, let alone lead.
