Now, it has been revealed that the capture will air this Spring on Friday, May 8, 9:00 p.m. ET on PBS. I’ve been wanting to see suffs, and have not gotten a chance to do so, (rather upsettingly my family is going to go without me) and so I’m pretty excited for this to air. I think that the recording of broadway shows is very beneficial and it always excites me when it happens, and then they actually get released. It makes seeing theater more accessible to people who can not afford to buy tickets or live far away and cant travel to see shows. It also helps the show gain popularity, because it can be accessed by a greater audience, people who may then get tickets to see the show live later down the line. If you look at a show like next to normal, it saw a huge boom in popularity after a proshot was released. Obviously seeing shows live is better and a different experience than seeing a proshot like this one, but I think that filming broadway shows is important.
