Guardian of the Film Academy’s Treasures Talks Museum and Collection
www.hollywoodreporter.com: On Jan. 13, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that Amy Homma, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ director and president, will henceforth also oversee the Academy Collection, which includes some 52 million film-related items held within the Margaret Herrick Library and the Academy Film Archive, ranging from an original script of Citizen Kane to a pair of the ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz.

I love Brandi Carlille so much. She was one of the first artists that I bonded with my parents over our shared love for. Watching her rendition of “America the Beautiful,” I identified a couple instances where she really pushed the vocals of the song and made them her own. I also appreciated her having the SistaStrings on the same platform as her. With both of these artists playing with her being Black women, having them visibly present throughout her performance, along with her statement about America moving forward was very impactful. I had also not known that the song writer, Katharine Lee Bates, was gay. I think including this in not only her interview, but just putting in enough research into the song to find out about the writer is awesome. I will be re-watching many Brandi Carlille concerts after this, especially for those high notes in “The Joke”.
