I think for a while there has been a question in the industry of where the use cases of LED Panels for projectors are, and which one is “better.” I think that the fact that Christie continues to compete in both markets and is actively developing new technology, makes a testament that both of these technologies have uses. Projectors are useful because they can cast onto all kinds of shapes and surfaces. This booth shows how projections can be used to map onto objects, as they projection map masks. It is possible to project onto surfaces that are not flat, and that move throughout the performances. LED walls however, can be super super bright, and stand up to the sun even on bright days. They can be great for outdoor address where you need a big screen, but not necessarily a surface that needs to be lit. They also are great because you don’t need to find a place to hang the projector or to see the beam of light in the air.
