Bad Bunny Stuns the Super Bowl With Lady Gaga, Real Wedding Ceremony
variety.com: Bad Bunny promised “the world will dance” in his advertisement before the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show, and his joyous, elaborate, unapologetic, unity-themed performance did not disappoint as he — with Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin and many more — raced through a medley of his songs, introducing them and himself to many of the more than 125 million viewers.

I knew that this year the Super Bowl halftime show was gonna be good, and I have to say I was not disappointed. I think that Bad Bunny’s performance was incredible, and that it comes at the perfect moment in American history. Having the billboard say “The only thing more powerful than hate is love” is an important message, and an active act of resistance from an artist who has been known to take a stand against the terrible things happening in the United States with ICE right now. Having a show that was almost entirely in Spanish was super powerful. The show was also so well designed. Bad Bunny’s outfit, which was all white and inspired by the look of a football jersey, worked so well. I also love how they used the grass, stage, and house sets, and moved through it a little bit like a maze. Overall such a good show and so well done.
I absolutely loved his performance! It was powerful and he did indeed cause the world to dance. Bringing on stage fellow latin musician Ricky Martin and the one and only Lady Gaga to perform along side him was impactful and did indeed bring the idea of unity to the stage. I am glad that the article answered my question if it was a real wedding because I was asking that throughout the show. Due to the current circumstances of the world right now, I think this performance created a sense of unity, hope, and optimism for people, which are somethings that are lacking in the world right now. The number of easter eggs or hidden references throughout the set, costumes, and even the special guests like Pedro Pascal and Jessica Alba were such a wonderful addition and showed the attention to detail the production team had. Overall, the production was so inspiring and was what we needed in this time of social and political turmoil.
The way he was able to do this show was truly so inspiring and completely unbiased I think this might have been one of the best super bowl half time shows ever. ( I mean to my knowledge no other half time shows have had two people actually get married) I love how Bad Bunny was inspired by artists like Lady Gaga so when he got the opportunity to show them how much their music meant to him he really did that by wanting them to perform with him, I thought that message was very powerful. After seeing him sitting alone in a bulletproof vest at the Grammys to then one week going and performing to the entirety of America and even globally, I was honestly a little worried for him because I didn’t know how safe he was going to feel there especially because there was reports of ICE being at the stadium but I am so proud of him for doing that for all Latino/a/x people in the world who needed it.
This halftime show was amazing! Bad Bunny and all of his guests were incredible! This show could not have been at a better time. I am so glad that the NFL stood on their beliefs, and did not give into the pressure. Bad Bunny is spreading a message that the whole world needs to hear right now! Love will always be more powerful than hate! I really hope that the NFL continues with this movement in the following years. I feel like this sort of started with the LA Superbowl a few years ago when they had all of the rap GOATS do the halftime show. They had Snoop Dog, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, and Mary J Blige. They then brought out Rianah and of course Kendrick Lamar again last year. This is a part of the NFL’s effort to grow its global stage. They want to expand across the world. I have heard rumblings that Burna Boy, one of Africa's largest artists might headline the halftime show next year! I think this would make lots of sense because the NFL recently started an initiative in Africa.
This year’s halftime show was truly spectacular. The vibes overall were great, the dancers, the singing, and the special guests were so fun to watch. I really enjoyed the wedding portion of the performance, it really felt like a real wedding and turned out to be one. I thought that was so cool that Bad Bunny included that in his performance. I also really liked the surprise appearance of Lady Gaga singing a salsa version of Die With A Smile. It really tied together the performance’s theme of Latin culture rather than singing the original. The other surprise appearance of Ricky Martin was a really smart and sentimental aspect of the performance. When I watched the performance live I didn’t recognize him at first. Afterwards I learned that it was Ricky Martin and a little bit of his history behind him and how he became the face of Latin music. I thought it was really awesome that Bad Bunny was able to perform with two talented artists who I’m sure he has always looked up to, this performance really was a good one.
The fact that there was a real wedding happening onstage during the super bowl halftime show is something that has not been talked about enough. That story will definitely be one that the family cherishes for all time. I can imagine them trying to convince their grandchildren that they were in fact married during the performance in front of all of the spectators. I wish that Ricky Martin had played his hit song living la vida loca as that is one of my all time favorite songs, but I understand that the most popular songs aren't always the ones that get the message across that you are trying to show. I think that this year’s show celebrates the heritage of both Latin America as a whole and Puerto Rico. I don’t think that it is taught enough that Puerto Rico is in fact a part of the United States even while it's seemingly its own entity.
