While this is very much not a “geared towards theater” article, there are a lot of little tricks mentioned in the article that I think could be super useful when trying to hide cabling onstage/in set pieces. A lot of the logic that we use in home cable management can be easily and directly applied to how we deal with set electrics. We’ve all seen the cable spaghetti and/or the tripwire of doom of cable management that can be created when things move with cables or cables are run in a way that doesn’t necessarily make sense while also trying to be hidden. Having the forethought to be able to run cables cleanly, efficiently and out of sight is a skill and an important one at that. It’s always good to have a couple of tricks in your back pocket to keep the designers, managers and audience members happy when it comes to cable management.
