Pride: The Best Reason Your Tech Team Needs a Training Program
Church Production Magazine: Who's coming up after you? Now don't get paranoid. I don't mean who is chasing you. I mean, if for some reason you could no longer function, who would replace you? Who are you training up? Christians in ministry should always be in the process of teaching people to do our jobs. This is true of the sound techs, video techs, greeters, and even pastors.

I totally agree with the points this article makes about leadership. A true leader, just like a truly efficient organization, prioritizes training for whoever is up next. I think sometimes when people are in charge they’re afraid to pass on their knowledge to someone else because they think doing so will make them less valuable. But the truth is that being a strong leader and teacher who is able to impart useful skills unto others actually makes you a more valuable part of the team, and is more personally rewarding in the long run. Trying to lead the charge solo just because you’re good at it is not only putting undue pressure on yourself that makes your job harder, but will send the team into crisis if for some reason you’re unable to be there. Investing in a solid training program is the way to go, no matter what kind of organization you’re in.
