Jamnia: It's super interesting how different designers choose to use different program and systems to best suit their needs. Often in the design world we complicate things wayyy too much and I think it’s super cool to see that other designers at that top level use super simple and streamlined process of creating super crazy and complex sound designs. I wonder if someone has ever compiled a list of all the differences between all the different sound systems and tested the different effects that they have on the type of sound being produced. It would also be super interesting to see how the top designers of the world use their systems and if there’s any similarities between all of them. I feel like even though every designer has their own system and their own way of doing things, there must be inside secrets about what or which systems are the best for a specific need and there MUST be some that are super underrated.

It makes sense that designers are super into their technology/tools, and it must be a really empowering feeling as a designer to have a knowledge deep enough that you’re able to really maximize your use of your system and customize it to best serve you and best suit your style. As an electrical and computer engineer, a lot of sound equipment is very cut-and-dry seeming to me because my knowledge of signals and signal processing doesn’t include a lot of the artistic and creative choices that go into sound design. It’s super interesting to me to read about this and I wish I knew more about sound equipment. I also love how even the people at the top of the top and the people who are winning big awards and being recognized in super major ways for what they do can also appreciate and even prefer the simpler ways of doing things.
