The 24 Hour Plays on Broadway 2024 Will Honor the Organization's Inaugural Nationals Class
Playbill: The 24th annual The 24 Hour Plays on Broadway event, in which a group of artists from theatre, film, and television write and perform a new theatrical work within a single day, will honor the inaugural class of The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals. This year's one-night-only event will be held October 21 at The Town Hall in New York City.

I feel like 24-hour theatre is such a cool concept, and this article really caught my attention because, just like how we have playground here where we rehearse for a short period of time to put on these really fun productions, the 24-hour type of theatre process is so interesting to me because it doesn't really matter if you do tech, singing, or film; it's all about fun and just being able to have that sense of community. But in a broader, more professional way. It combines that college world into the theatre world, which can go on to have even deeper meanings for some. It's so cool to see how these weeklong events can inspire long-term artistic collaboration and overall inspiration for theatre makers. Taking these stars from Broadway and all over to participate in these national events shines such a bright light on the theatre community, and the way that these almost team-building types of events can convey that sense of prosperity is such a cool thing to be a part of that I hope I could participate in one day.
I wish we had more experiences like the 24-hour play. It seems like a fun, intensive, and inspiring theater experience for those involved and for those lucky enough to be able to see the result. Condensing the creative process of showwriting can make for a stressful but extremely collaborative experience. I hope I can participate in an activity like this at some point in my career. In the live event industry, it is all about connections and the connections these performers and creatives are making through this experience will continue to drive their careers forward and help them build even more connections. A 24-hour play can be a great way to start a theater career because it gives an enormous amount of experience and know-how just from 1 week of work. Even if the end result isn’t perfect it'll be forgiven because of the constraint of time on the project and anything extraordinary will be that much better for having been created under the incisive and stressful setting of the 24-hour play.
