Oh do I love stranger things, one of my old favorite TV shows. I got hooked on the show in around 7th grade and got pretty obsessed with not only the genuine relatable characters, but the magical gore it has to offer. The show is based on a group of teens playing Dungeons and Dragons, and their lives drastically change after a girl with superpowers joins their friend group. The show takes an interesting plot, and includes great special effects and scenery to make a believable impressive show. I do think however the first season was the best, each season, alythoigh I love all of them, each got more and more random. It seemed like the wfriter ran out of ideas, making random sideplots including Russian enemies and creating and killing characters for the ‘drama.’ So I am pretty curious to see what they came up for this season. Also, last season the show was about the origin of the main conflict in the show so I wonder what that will do to the story.
I feel like this is such an interesting idea to take such a popular TV series, like Stranger Things and adapt it into a theater production. Personally, I don’t think I have ever seen something like this done before. I’m definitely interested in seeing how successful it will be as a production. I think it will bring in lots of people who are fans of the series. Even though I do enjoy the show, I’m not sure if I would be willing to go out and see a production of it. I do think that it is smart that they chose to make the theater production answer some unknown questions that appear within the TV show. It seems like there will be some additional content to the story of the show, which might drive more of an audience to get their questions answered. However, I do worry that it might be difficult to capture the full horror or thriller affect of the show in a live performance.
I have been a big fan of the Stranger Things franchise since the first season came out in 2016 (which is crazy that it’s been six years already) and I, like many others, were very interested in Henry Creel and his story when his plotline was revealed in the show. I think out of anything within this franchise they could’ve put on the stage, it feels smart to do a prequel and I am very interested by it. The production photo looks really cool and I’m curious to see how the Stranger Things aesthetic carries over into a theatrical setting. Reading this article was the first time I was able to see what the show is actually about, and a summary, and it sounds really cool. The West End does a lot of really cool and unique theater and I think first putting on this show over there makes a lot of sense and I am super excited about what’s to come for this show.
