Chesapeake Shakespeare Company pushes for diversity and inclusion within the organization
AFRO American Newspapers: Following the pandemic, the Chesapeake Shakespeare Company (CSC) has attempted to diversify their organization.
CSC is a classical music theater company based in Baltimore. They specialize in Shakespearian plays as they look to expose Baltimore to the wonders of classical theater.

I have had several very good interactions with the Chesapeake Shakespeare Company as I grew up in Baltimore. The vast majority of the performances of Shakespeare which I have seen have been at Chesapeake Shakespeare. I have also enjoyed some of the other productions which Chesapeake Shakespeare does such as their annual production of “A Christmas Carol” with Baltimorean accents.
Another thing that I have always appreciated about Chesapeake Shakespeare is how many different types of work they do. They have a beautiful theater in a renovated bank downtown which I have gone to with my school several times. They also have an outdoor theater in which they do various forms of shows during the summer. I have really appreciated these because they provide a different environment for people to experience theater and offer discounted child tickets.
A final thing I love about Chesapeake Shakespeare is how they care for the people who work for them. While I was in high school, one of my mentors was invited to direct a show there, which was a great opportunity for him as someone who had grown up in Baltimore. I have also heard rumors of Chesapeake being equity unionized, for which it would only be the second one in the city.
