Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella, now “Bad Cinderella” is one of those shows I love to hate. I came across some recordings of the show in the west end, and have been following the show and its drama ever since. I was really surprised to find out the show (or a version of it anyway) would be coming to broadway. After all the drama in the west end, I really am curious to see how this production does. Admittedly I have not really enjoyed the bit of content they have put out so far, but I will say that they do have a stronger aesthetic and general sense of direction. But I just can't get behind all the things they are doing for this show. It feels so much like just trying to hack into a younger audience without giving much thought into the quality. I’m really disappointed because although I personally didn't think the west end production was fantastic, I could at least say it was fun. It had a unique aesthetic provided by the costumes, set, and amazing performances given by the cast members. I’m hopeful this new production will be better, but the marketing so far has not been my favorite.
