Review: A Dreamy Adaption for a Midwinter Night's Entertainment
onstagepittsburgh.com: On opening night of Pittsburgh Public Theater’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Harlem, given a little encouragement to hoot and holler like it’s the 1600s, the audience went wild, cheering on the antics and artistry onstage.

This looks like such an interesting and fun show. Both from a dramaturgical standpoint as well as a design and directorial point of view. I have always absolutely loved “A Midsummer’s Night Dream” and thought that it was one of the most adaptable and interesting play’s in the Shakespeare Repertoire. The overall design of this show is so intriguing in so many ways. The scenic elements are so unique and lends itself to the dreamlike quality of the show. The costumes seem to be fluid with their time frame, utilizing style aspects from the 90’s, 00’s, 10’s as well as the historical and cultural costume pieces that denote the more magical parts of the show. This all star cast is also incredibly compelling, all members of the cast seem to be highly talented and very well respected in their fields which is incredibly exciting. The use of color in the lighting is also incredibly beautiful which further emphasizes the dreamlike quality of the show.
