I'm sick of Broadway audience members acting like jackasses

nypost.com: As audiences have returned to Broadway, they have simultaneously morphed into cavemen — drinking to belligerent excess, causing loud ruckuses and, in some previously unimaginable instances, they’re even becoming violent with helpless ushers.

This is so frustrating. I don’t understand why people feel like they can act like this. Ushers are not trained to deal with situations like that, nor should they have to be. I do not think ushers should have to fear for their safety while they work in a theatre. The fact they are being physically attacked speaks volumes about what we let patrons of our theatres get away with. I am thankful that these people and management are able to handle these humans with such grace. Not only is it not fair to any of them to have to deal with it but is also awful to make the other audience members put up with someone throwing a hissy fit when they paid just as much to get a theoretically uninterrupted show. On top of all of that, they’re going to ruin it for the rest of us. If enough bad things happen there could be a world in which we stop serving concessions or even have a much colder house management style.
