Alec Baldwin Calls the Killing of Halyna Hutchins on ‘Rust’ a ‘Horrible Thing’ That He Struggles to Talk About

www.thedailybeast.com: Alec Baldwin has described the killing of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins as a “horrible thing” that he still finds it hard to talk about, in a video posted to Instagram. The clip appears to have been recorded in his hotel room after he went out for a curry with Martin Bashir in a small British market town on Monday evening.

I wrote a lot of comments about this event last semester. The conversation died out but I am glad that it has resurfaced a bit. This is a horrible thing that happened because of carelessness within the industry and someone had to die because of it. A lot of people endured a lot of trauma from this incident. I do not like when famous people talk to their fans on Instagram, it never really works out for anyone. The celebrity is usually dismissed as unapologetic and it just ends up causing more problems. I can’t speak to the effect of Baldwin’s post though. Something that I have noticed about all of these articles is that they always note that “a police investigation is ongoing” or something to that effect. It is my hope that a conclusion will be reached for everyone but especially for Halyna Hutchins’ family. I hope that this case will expand the safety that we carry with us within the entertainment industry as a whole. This is something that should have never happened and truly is a tragedy.
