I didnt know that this company is annaouncing a new show! I love all shows that come out of Cirque, I always think that they have some of the most creative and technically advanced shows in the States. I think it is truly one of the more creative companies out there in terms of providing entertainment in that scale. I have seen a lot of their productions in the past and I have to say that for such a large scale, mass marketed live entertainment feature, they do such a good job of not limiting the creativity of their artists and taking risks. And I really appreciate how these collaborations work, especially when both collaborators are so highly, and specifically skilled. Because I know that when your skill gets to that level it can be hard to sort of make compromises and relay the information that you need to relay, which are all really important to an effective collaboration. But the fact that they were able to make it work so well and have the outcome come out so good consistently, is a work of art in and of itself.

Reading about the inner workings of Cirque du Soleil is fascinating. Especially considering how accomplished the company as a whole is. From the way in which the productions go about executing a creative idea (creative/artistic directors, technicians, management, designers, etc), to the structural hierarchy within the organization, Cirque is ultimately considered the pinnacle of live circus entertainment. I mean, their productions are larger than life. Also, Blue Man Group is a Cirque show? I was not aware of this fact. I Pre-pandemic I had the opportunity to visit Las Vegas and watch one of Cirque’s most renowned productions, “O”. It was actually said show, believe it or not, that cemented the idea of me wanting to do theatre for the rest of my life. Again, yes Cirque productions are what many could consider spectacles. But they are, also, artistic spectacles– oftentimes not grounded in reality and blurring the lines between naturalism and abstraction.

First of all, I really love the humorous tone of the article – it made me laugh several times reading the article. The news of a brand new Cirque show is truly exciting because I personally haven’t seen a Cirque for like at least 10 years, so I am excited to see its newest production. I think the new show ‘Mad Apple’ also has a lot of meaning to the company, especially going through bankruptcy in 2020 because of COVID. I am not surprised if Cirque goes big with this one, and I know many of us are waiting for another exceedingly artistic and well-produced show. Cirque, with its high reputation both within and outside of the industry, has standards high for itself and others. But I have faith that ‘Mad Apple’ will bring out its’ best works again. I hope that I will be able to see the show before I graduate.
