Patricia Field’s Favorite ‘Emily in Paris’ Season 2 Fashion Moments, From Sylvie’s Christian Siriano Suit to Emily’s Red H&M Dress
www.yahoo.com: “As fashion these days has become rather monotonous and boring (jeans, sneakers, etc.), it was the perfect opportunity to develop Emily’s style as more colorful and optimistic,” Field, who is also known for the iconic style of “Sex and the City” and “The Devil Wears Prada,” wrote in a statement to Variety.

As corny as Emily in Paris is, I know personally our class like to joke about the show a lot… The costuming and line up designers are rather impressive. I think the first name of any designer of anything I knew was Christian Siriano. I was about four or five when he was on Project Runway. Seeing that show, is really the first time I remember wanting to make things and I was enthralled for whatever reason in my little toddler brain by him. Although, I have no experience or skill in costuming now, I would drape clothes and hand sew a lot as a kid. It is interesting to see how media and television have a small influence in the things we gravitate towards. I’m not saying Emily in Paris will inspire the next generation of costume designers, but hey who knows what five year old is eyeing up Siriano’s hem lines through the TV…
Patricia Field always brings surprises, and one of the most surprising things about some of these outfits picks is the affordable prices, such as the Pretty Little Thing set and Shein bucket hat; while the bucket hat doesn’t exactly look luxurious, the PLT outfit looks very expensive, and highlights how making an outfit fit correctly through alterations can make a $20 dress look like a $2,000 dress. I love the styling of Julien’s patterned suit jacket with the lace cravat; on the red carpet we often see men wearing a bold jacket with a normal tie, but switching it up with interesting neckwear makes the wearer look more confident and unique. At first the heart necklace with Emily’s red dress looked a little tacky to me, which is classic Emily, but I see now that it’s very delicate and the light gold complements Collins’ skin tone in a way that’s not distracting.
