While I’m not necessarily the biggest fan of football and the Super Bowl, I think it is very cool to see how the technology we use as theatre artists is scaled up to function in such demanding environments like the Super Bowl. I appreciated learning about how the Shure Wireless Workbench technology not only can find clear frequencies for transmitters, but can also in real time adjust those frequencies in order to stay clear in such a RF-dense environment. This was able to be achieved through the Shure technology Quadversity which uses 4 different frequencies to transmit for one single receiver, and while that seems excessive in my eyes as a theatre designer, I’m sure that is what’s needed in such a demanding and RF-crowded environment like this. I also appreciate the focus on making sure the backend of referees can communicate clearly with each other, using Shure technology to create a very wide area of strong signal that kept the game going as smoothly as possible.
