It must be really exciting for these 8 students to get to work on such a huge project as interns. While I’ve never heard of the Georgia Film Academy, it seems like they are trying their very best to give their students real field experience. Also this doesn’t seem to be the first time that they have had students working on extremely popular movie and television sets. Internships can be very tricky, it is not mentioned here in the article whether it is paid or unpaid. The entertainment industry loves to highlight the idea of exposure and experience. At the beginning of many entertainment based careers you are essentially asked to work for free a lot of the time, and most of these things are not easy jobs. As the article mentions, things like lights and SFX are extremely tiring and time consuming tasks. While I completely understand the value of exposure and internships, there is always this aspect of demanding gratefulness that you are allowed to do hard long labor for free.
