This is a huge relief to me and I am sure a relief to all theatre professionals out there. We are in a risky industry, this has only been made more apparent by the Covid- 19 pandemic. I know a great many designers, actors, musicians, etc… who would greatly benefit from not having to be terrified if they are going to make rent that month, if they are going to be able to afford to eat. Hell, it makes me less consumed by terror in going into this field. I want to be able to own a house eventually. I want to be able to start a family and not have to worry constantly about money and if this fund becomes a more nationwide staple that may be more of a possibility. This is so incredibly important especially in the turbulent and uncertain times we find ourselves living in. I can only hope that this becomes the national standard.
