I really like this because not only does it use the outside of the sphere to encourage and showcase art for students, but it also pushes students to consider the challenges that are involved in designing the sphere. You have to design something that can be 360 and compatible with the sphere’s technologies. At first, I struggled to understand how elementary schoolers and middle schoolers could design something compatible with the sphere without training and software, so it made me really happy to see that the team at the sphere made special technologies to adapt the design process to people with less training and less technology. Bringing that technology into middle and high school classrooms is not something you see often, and I think expansion of programs like that would bring more passionate and curious people into the entertainment industry that are excited to make new art and new technologies.

I am honestly a bit surprised that this is the first time that I have seen anything about people getting the chance to put their art on the exterior of The Sphere in Vegas. The outside of the sphere is almost like a giant billboard, and although the funny emoji face on the sphere is great it would also be cool to see the surface used for other mediums. One medium that this article is talking about is something that should be shown on the sphere. I cannot image how much joy a student would have to see their art displayed on the sphere. That is an amazing opportunity for an up and coming artist. I hope that I continue to see the sphere used in ways similar to this, and this is especially true when it comes to things that support arts students that are trying to make a name for themselves.

Wow this is actually such a cool opportunity for students! I think that promoting arts within education, especially early education, is one of the most important things we can do for society because it pushes kids to be creative and resourceful. I think competitions like these are especially important because they offer incentive that gets kids excited for making art. I think especially with the opportunity to see your art displayed at such a large scale is really a cool thing for young art students to be able to see. I also think the theme this year is really cool, I really love when art design and science can all come together and act as a cohesive force. I think so often in academia we try to separate art and science but I think that there's so much value in using the different skills needed in both to help advance each other.

This is such a cool opportunity. Companies like Sphere should have these kinds of opportunities for students much more frequently. I think it’s such a good way to show off talent that many students have but also push them to create more. Art is supposed to be seen by people, if a student’s art were to be voted on by that many people I’m sure it would motivate them to continue to create. I also love how this opportunity is divided up between levels of education. Giving this to students in elementary school is so awesome, imagine you were that kid and you get to see your piece of art on that giant sphere, I would be thrilled. While looking at the voting page of their website, I noticed that these candidates all came from Nevada. As cool as it would be for this opportunity to be national, it makes sense why this is local based. If a student was far away from the sphere, they wouldn’t be able to go see their artwork displayed.

I think that this is a really great way to get the community excited about the Sphere. Student art competitions can be a great opportunity for increasing interest in the arts and reinforcing the confidence of young artists. When I was in high school I submitted a short story to a competition and it was one of the stories chosen to be included in a book. I still have that book on my shelf and it is a reminder that sometimes all you need to do is put yourself out there and someone will see your work and appreciate it enough to elevate it. The idea to change when in the year each annual student design challenge is another great thing that the Sphere is doing. Going from the 4th of July to earth day and now to pi day is enabling more creativity from these students. The winners earning money for their school’s art programs is another way that the company is showing that it is committed to fostering creativity and a love of arts in students.
