MEXODUS to Return to NYC This Spring at the Daryl Roth Theatre
www.broadwayworld.com: On the heels of a twice-extended run at Audible’s Minetta Lane Theatre in Fall 2025, Mexodus, the new musical written and performed by Brian Quijada and Nygel D. Robinson, choreographed by Tony Thomas, and directed by David Mendizábal, will return to New York City this spring for a limited 10-week-only engagement. Performances begin Friday, March 6 at the Daryl Roth Theatre.

This is so awesome! I really wanted to see Mexodus during its first run, but I was sadly not able to make it. This show just seems so cool all around! It tells such an important story using an extremely innovative method! The story is about the lesser known escape from slavery along the underground railroad to Mexico. The entire show is a live looped performance. They create all the songs and audio by looping their vocals and various instruments. It is rare that new musicals break through these days, and it is even more rare for them to be breaking boundaries. I don’t think there has ever been a musical similar to Mexodus. It honestly reminds me of the waves that Hamilton had on musical theatre. I am so excited that Mexodus is coming back to New York, and I hope that I will be able to see this run!
yes! Go MEXODOUS! I remember that I wrote a news comment about this play/musical when it originally came out and then a bunch of people I knew went to see it and not a single word of criticism was said about this musical. I am so jealous of anyone and everyone who saw it. I’ve never wanted to experience anything more than this new renaissance of contemporary musicals inspired by Lin-Manuel Miranda. I think that he changed the game forever and MEXODOUS is one of those musicals that will live in historical fame forever. The story is so important to tell right now, uplifting oppressed. Voices is so important and the entire show is live looped which is insane to me. I really wish that there was a pro shot, but I don’t think that would work because the show is unique every single time they do it and every single time you see it and I think that that’s the coolest thing ever it really brings that ephemerality from Theodore to the next level and I’m obsessed I really really hope that I can see it when it returns to New York
