I don’t know much about Jeffrey Finn or even Kevin Couch, the newly appointed head of artistic programming at the Kennedy Center, but I can only judge the politics of this situation based on their actions. This change-over comes as no surprise for anyone keeping up with the news of Trump’s takeover of The Kennedy Center, but that doesn’t change the sad state of affairs it represents for the regional, even national theatrical scene. It’s clear that whoever Kevin Couch is, is similar to the rest of Trump's appointed staff in the White House in how he is a loyalist willing to align with Trump for the sake of power gains. When it comes to Jeffrey Finn however, even not knowing his political background whatsoever, I find it disheartnening that this article repeats how it has yet to receive a statement on his end about his resignation. Whether by choice, or not, the silence speaks volumes about the willingness of resistance in an artistic institution as highly regarded and respected as The Kennedy Center.
