I ♡ City Theatre and Hope You Do, Too
Pittsburgh Lesbian Correspondents: I very much enjoy live theater, you’ve probably noticed that in my blogging.
Pittsburgh has multiple live theater companies and venues, from community theaters in McKeesport and Carnegie to mainstream denizens of Downtown. We are fortunate, but we are also divided.
Honestly, there’s a discernible vibe between the community theaters and the Cultural District theaters. If you know, you know. The lack of creative responses to this divide is likely part of the economic implosion.

Sue of PGHLesbian Correspondents, I also very much enjoy live theatre. The amount of theatre I have access to is one of my favorite things about living in Pittsburgh. I will admit, I saw Another Kind of Silence at City Theatre last fall and wasn’t a fan of it (although granted, it was a preview, and also, I’d be a fool to judge a theatre company based on one production.) It is interesting to hear about the divide between the community theatres and the theatres in the Cultural District. It’s interesting to hear about the differences in theatres from a press standpoint - how some theatres are less or more willing to talk about certain issues (like casting choices or union protections.) I did think that segment about “their” cup in “our” theatre was weird, and not exactly charming like the author did. I wish I’d gotten to see Little Women.
