Darren Aronofsky AI Revolutionary War Animated Series Used Human Voice Actors
variety.com: Filmmaker Darren Aronofsky used AI to travel back in time 250 years ago to the American Revolution. But he tapped real-life human actors to provide voices in documenting key events of the country’s foundational conflict.

Another day, and another story about AI slop. No one wants to watch this. No one cares about this. There's nothing special about content created by an AI. There's nothing that could make me ever want to view this in a good light ever. There are already whole production companies where their content already looks so bad, and is rated so poorly because of the look that AI gives it. It doesn't look good, and it doesn't look human. Like I appreciate AI for what it is capable of doing at the moment. But it isn't a human, and using it to generate movies for you for a profit isn't making art. Like I get it for sure in the future there will be ways to make art with AI. But right now this isn't art. This is just a company attempting to use AI to get out of hiring animators to do the job for them.
AI should not be used for large art projects like this. Art is something that should be done by humans for humans and not AI. I know that people like to say that art can be made more accessible through AI, but that is just not true. Art is an accessible form of creativity that can be done through many mediums. I will also say it seems a little insensitive to be creating a show about the founding of America without adding any modern day context, especially with everything that is going on and the way that the current administration seems to want to go back in time. I appreciate how the filmmaker decided to use actual voice actors for the show, but creating animated shows with AI takes away a lot of jobs and the human aspect of art. There are so many talented people who could have helped create this show and animate the show themselves instead of AI.
I don’t care that they had human voice actors participate, this is still AI slop and always will be. If AI is used as anything beyond a minor tool to assist with animation or formatting (such as adding small lines to a facial expression depending on what facial expression the human animator creates) then it is AI slop and nothing can change my mind. Hire human actors and people with extensive knowledge of history and human designers and arts to create and design and recreate the American Revolution. I don’t want your AI, untalented, apathetic, and passionless garbage. It’s plagiarism and stealing from the people who actually have all those things. Nobody should want this, its taking away from the actual purpose and root of art. Humanity is necessary to make art, and that means all of the art in question must be made by humanity. I don’t know how many times I can say it, but I find this stuff sickening.
