Big tool brands such as Milwaukee always dabble in several different categories of tools. Their wide variety of products range from incredibly useful to just a little silly name brand marketing. This article includes a plethora of both kinds. I personally found the GFCI tester interesting because I have little to no experience in the electrical field and always love learning about different requirements for different professions. By far the silliest tool included in the article was the Milwaukee branded pencil. Shop pencils are needed by every carpenter and finding a reliable but cheap brand is a necessity. The Milwaukee pencil is basically a branded drafting pencil. Drafting pencils allow you to choose the thickness, color, and density of the led which is exactly the perks Milwaukee is advertising. Led would also be quite challenging to actively carry at all times just to change the color of your pencil. Not to mention pencils need to be easily replaceable because they can be easily lost or misplaced.

While many of these new additions may not see much use in the world of theatre it is always interesting to see new tools. I think that the GFCI tester especially is a very important new arrival because with anything safety related you don't want to find out the safety device doesn't work while it's actually in use. I'm definitely interested in the mechanical pencil. In many shops I've worked at in the past when the shop is busy carpenter's pencils aren't always kept sharp leading to the inevitable annoyance of going to mark a measurement and realizing that you need to go sharpen a pencil first then having to go back and redo the whole measurement. Given how most theatre work is done inside I think that we will primarily see the clear safety glasses in theatre. Of course there are some outdoor venues so I think that these safety glasses might see some use there too.
